On the other side of the country in Piscataway, New Jersey, UCLA football (2-5, 1-4 Big Ten) triumphed over Rutgers (4-4, 1-4) 35-32 to collect its first Big Ten win.

On Aug. 19, New York rapper Ice Spice performed at the Hollywood Palladium as a part of her “Y2K! WORLD TOUR.” With dates across North America, Europe and other locations, the four-time Grammy Nominated rapper took the stage to deliver performances of songs, including some off of her debut album, “Y2K!.”

 On August 11, the Foo Fighters played their second night at the BMO Stadium on their “Everything or Nothing at All Tour”, with opening acts the Pretenders and Alex G.

Following the release of Cage the Elephant’s sixth studio album “Neon Pill,” the rock band performed at the Kia Forum on July 7 as a part of its “Neon Pill Tour.” With approximately 17,000 fans in attendance, the concert featured three opening acts: Bakar, Young the Giant and Willow Avalon.

Participants walked down Hollywood Boulevard with floats, banners and other props celebrating the 54th Annual LA Pride Parade on June 9.

Pro-Palestine protesters set up encampments on Monday in Dickson Plaza, Kerckhoff patio and Shapiro Courtyard. This followed Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA protesting through campus and reading names of Palestinians killed in Gaza by the Israeli military.

As students reach the end of their time at UCLA, they reflect on their high school senior years – which were impacted by COVID-19 – and compare them with their senior year of college.

No. 6 seed UCLA softball kicked off its postseason in the NCAA Los Angeles regional over the weekend, securing three wins to move on to the super regional.

Demonstrations persisted at Dickson Plaza after an encampment led by UCLA students and community members was set up in support of Palestine on April 25. Outside Royce Hall, encampment members encountered counter-protesters, displaying the escalating tension on college campuses across the country.
