UCLA professors on conservative watchlists talk safety concerns, academic freedom

Associate professor of anthropology Hannah Appel said she has been repeatedly doxed and threatened via email since spring 2024.
Appel, a member of Faculty for Justice in Palestine at UCLA, said she is on the watchlist of Canary Mission, a website that tracks professors who “promote hatred of the USA, Israel and Jews on North American college campuses and beyond.” She had previously participated in pro-Palestine protests and spoke during an occupation of Dodd Hall in May 2024.

UCLA shares immigration enforcement policies, procedures in accordance with CA law

UCLA is asking community members to inform UCPD if immigration officers enter or are expected to enter campus to execute federal immigration orders.
The university issued the notice in a Thursday BruinPost, noting in the message that it has “no indication or reports” suggesting immigration enforcement operations will occur on campus.

SoFi stadium company added as defendant in Rose Bowl suit against UCLA

The City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Operating Company added SoFi stadium’s owner as a defendant in their lawsuit aimed at stopping UCLA from leaving its home stadium Thursday. 
The plaintiffs amended the complaint to include Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and its subsidiary, Stadco LA, as defendants, alleging that SoFi was aware of UCLA’s contract with the Rose Bowl but still went on a “quest to facilitate UCLA’s attempt to leave.” The City of Pasadena and the RBOC initially sued the UC Board of Regents on Oct.
