About the Daily Bruin Editorial Board

Mission Statement

The Daily Bruin Editorial Board offers the consolidated opinions of veteran members of the Bruin on topics relevant to UCLA. The Board generally publishes one to two editorials every week throughout the year.

Editorials are intended to serve as the jumping point, and not the conclusion, to discussion.

The board meets to discuss issues on campus and within the larger University of California system. Editorial positions are determined by majority vote and unsigned editorials represent the majority opinion of the board. The board operates separately from the newsroom.

The board stands behind the preservation of the University of California’s academic mission and believes that administration, at all levels, should be held accountable to students, faculty and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, state and county legislators, UC and UCLA administrators and elected student officers.

The members of the board believe an independent and accessible student press is critical to ensuring a well-informed student population. 

As part of the Daily Bruin’s commitment to its readers, the board hopes to present a responsible and clear analysis of relevant events and news items affecting the lives of those we serve. We encourage all readers to reach out to our board members and to respond to our editorials.

The Board

Lex Wang is the 2024-2025 editor in chief. She was previously the 2022-2023 Opinion editor and the 2023-2024 Enterprise editor. She is a rising fourth-year history and political science student.

Nicolas Greamo is the 2024-2025 Opinion editor. He is also a staff photographer and was formerly an assistant Opinion editor from 2022 to 2024. Greamo is a rising fourth-year history and labor studies student.

Russell Ahmed is a 2024-2025 assistant Opinion editor. He was previously an Opinion columnist from 2022 to 2024. Ahmed is a rising third-year neuroscience student minoring in biomedical research.

Sierra Benayon-Abraham is a 2024-2025 assistant Opinion editor. She was previously an Opinion columnist from 2022 to 2024. Benayon-Abraham is a rising third-year public health student.

Tavian Williams is a 2024-2025 assistant Opinion editor. He was previously an Opinion columnist from 2022 to 2024. Williams is a rising third-year English student.

Allison Bushong is an Opinion senior staffer and an Arts and News contributor. She was previously a 2023-2024 assistant Opinion editor. Bushong is a rising fourth-year communication and history student.

Ava Abrishamchian is a Sports staffer. She was previously a Sports contributor from 2022-2023 and reporter from 2023-2024. Abrishamchian is a rising third-year economics and psychology student.

Chiara Grasso is an Opinion columnist. She is a rising fourth-year cognitive science and economics student.

Alicia Park is the 2024-2025 Quad editor. Park is a rising fourth-year history student.

Leah Snyderman is a Copy staffer. She is a rising third-year communication student double minoring in film and professional writing.

Maya Vibhakar is an Arts staffer and News contributor. Vibhakar is a rising fourth-year political science student.
