Shortly after 8:20 a.m., AFSCME Local 3299 members began entering Murphy Hall – which hosts some administrative offices – chanting “Our university.” Protestors continued to ring cow bells and use megaphones.

Shortly before 8 a.m., AFSCME Local 3299 members began marching from the Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center toward Bruin Plaza, chanting “Union power” and “32-99.”

The incumbent Democrat defeated Republican Stephan Hohil by a landslide in California State Assembly District 51, according to the Los Angeles Times.
