The UCLA figure skating club jumps, spins and glides on the ice. The team overcomes the challenges of not having its own coach and ice skating rink in order to attend the national championships.

Ellen Morrow, a volunteer for UCLA’s People-Animal Connection (PAC) Program, and her golden doodle, Charley, are one of many pet-and-owner duos who go to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center every two weeks to brighten up a patient’s day. 

“We develop them to be the best leaders of America’s sons and daughters,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mike McDermott about UCLA’s ROTC program. Amid the rising popularity of vaporizers and electronic cigarettes, UCLA students and Westwood businesses discuss the basics of becoming a ‘vape’ user and the reasons more young adults prefer ‘e-cigs’ as opposed to regular cigarettes.

Fourth-year, ethnomusicology students Arianna Afsar and Andrew Cedar perform a duet of their original song “Trade Hearts.” The song, which explores heartbreak and the desire to move on, will be featured in Spring Sing 2013.

The UCLA Student Transfer Opportunity and Mentor Program, or STOMP, put on its 14th annual STOMP conference on April 26th of this year. The conference has grown from a few attendees to over a thousand, becoming a central program for community college students considering transferring into a UC.
