Almost exactly a year ago UCLA men’s soccer (7-5-6, 3-4-3 Big Ten) was upset by Loyola Marymount by a score of 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament at home.
Jayden Perry had the season on her shoulders.
The senior defender 12 yards away from the goal, locked in on the target as she prepared to strike the decisive shot that would seal the Bruins’ postseason fate.
Every year, the transfer portal welcomes new talent to the UCLA cross country roster.
And Jack Rosencrans is no exception.
But the graduate student is, by most views, a newcomer.
Sometimes, there is only one chance to prove a point.
And Friday’s affair presents the Bruins with an opportunity to do just that.
Having wrapped up the regular season less than two weeks ago, UCLA cross country will travel to Colfax, Washington, with the chance to qualify for nationals at the NCAA West Regional.

It all came down to the final penalty kick.
Michigan goalkeeper Ethan Wood stood at the goal post as UCLA junior midfielder Tarun Karumanchi got set to shoot.
With a chance to play in the final on the line, Karumanchi approached the spot as he targeted the ball at the bottom left of the net – but fate would eventually land in the hands of Wood.
A team’s hunger is no exaggeration.
And when a conference title is on the line, it’s time to flip the switch.
“We’re really, really hungry to get a trophy,” said freshman defender Nicki Fraser.
No. 6 seed UCLA men’s soccer (6-5-5, 3-4-3 Big Ten) hasn’t won since a 3-0 victory over Rutgers on Oct. 18. However, the Bruins have also notched four wins against ranked opponents and have tied four top-25 opponents.

In their inaugural season in the Big Ten, the Bruins encountered a plethora of firsts.
And now, they can add their first victory in the Big Ten tournament to that list.
UCLA men’s soccer (6-5-5, 3-4-3 Big Ten) has little time left before traveling to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, for its first-ever Big Ten tournament kicking off on Nov.
