The women’s basketball team advanced to its first Final Four in NCAA tournament history, and both the baseball and softball teams earned trips to the College World Series – making UCLA the only school to do so in 2025.

After Thursday night’s loss jeopardized UCLA’s chances at the Big Ten regular season crown, the Bruins evened the series against the Wildcats on Friday night to keep their conference title dreams alive.

John Savage’s ability to develop pitchers is arguably what gave him a career in collegiate baseball.
His first job with a Power Five program was as a pitching coach at USC from 1997 to 2000, developing future Big League arms like Barry Zito and Mark Prior.

Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. And that race only gets longer once you reach extra innings.
But through 14 innings Sunday, the Bruins could just not seem to find their footing.

Coach John Savage didn’t mince words after Sunday’s ballgame, saying the Cornhuskers were in pursuit of redemption after losing two straight to the Bruins.
“Got to give Nebraska credit,” Savage said.
