Choosing to watch an older horror flick is a little bit like going trick-or-treating. Sure, there seems to be a mountain of regrettable candy corn and chewy messes to sift through, but every once in a while, like a diamond in the rough, comes the deluxe, king-size chocolate bar of your dreams.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival exemplifies the word “big.” With its notable music acts that perform each year and the immense crowds that pour into Indio every spring for the annual festival, Coachella has made a name for itself on a grand scale.
Surprisingly cool weather graced Indio, on Friday, as the second weekend of the heavily anticipated Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival began. After a star-studded first weekend, with artists including Beyoncé and Slash making guest appearances, I ventured into the desert for Part 2 of Coachella with Daily Bruin photo editor Neil Bedi in tow to bring back highlights from the weekend.

This Tuesday, the joint Ackerman and Kerckhoff buildings played host to one of the largest showcases of musical talent of the school year. Organized by the Student Committee for the Arts in conjunction with Associated Students UCLA, this event, titled Art in the Union 2013, offered four stages of live music exclusively featuring UCLA artists in four venues around the two buildings.
