In a garage-turned-boxing gym in Pico Union, head USC boxing coach Ramon Espada has been training both UCLA and USC student in the same gym. Despite the rivalry between schools, Bruins and Trojans in this gym trained together and saw each other as teammates.

The UCLA men’s lacrosse club team competes with its archrival USC at an away game. The Bruins came out victorious, scoring 16 points against the Trojans’ 13.

Under the training and guidance of head USC boxing coach Ramon Espada who brought a team of USC and UCLA boxers up to the University of San Francisco, two female UCLA boxers, third-year philosophy student Mei-Le Keck and third-year communication studies student Rachel Luba fought in the U.S.

While on a UCLA Travel Study program in China during the summer of 2012, I met a fourth-year international development studies student named Vincent Ho, who told me about one of his biggest bucket-list goals – to motorcycle across Vietnam.

As well as a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, Carl Hulick is an avid spearfisherman. Photographer Eman Baha followed along on Hulick’s most recent spearfishing expedition to a beach near Malibu.

UCLA football player Carl Hulick clutches a spear, dives into the ocean, and hides himself among the kelp. Carl first discovered spearfishing in middle school and has been an avid spearfisher ever since.
